THE CELEBRATIONS

Many religious and non-religious related celebrations take place in different towns of Provence. As a typical example, Nîmes and Arles compete every year in organizing bullfighting ferias that draw thousands of passionate people. Along the years, Provence has also become the region of festivals : Avignon, Aix-en-provence, Orange, Vaison, Carpentras, Salon, Arles… are only few names of towns where festivals take place during the summer months.

CLOTHES AND PROVENCAL COSTUMES

Thanks to the Marseille harbor, Provence has always been opened to the world : when oriental clothes were discovered, they had been adapted through the techniques of sewing and quilting. These improvements gave birth to the provencal patterns. As for the costumes themselves, the traditional costume of Arles is certainly one of the most refined and sophisticated.
