GENERALITES
Provence is a southern region bounded by Mediterranean (south), the Gorges de l'Ardeche (north), St Baume (east) and Mont Ventoux (west). Provence has its typical climate, culture (i.e. tradition and cooking ) and specific landscapes .
THE CLIMATE
Provence is generally described as a region where temperatures are clement, with rare rainfalls and unmatched brightness. Nevertheless, weather conditions happen to be very different from one year to an other. In fact, the sea and the relief have a great influence on the climate. Seaside-provence have a more pleasant climate than inner-provence since average temperatures are usually warmer seaside.
THE SEASONS
Provence is a bright region during summer. Tourists usually enjoy almost 3 months of rainless heat and sun shinning. From mid-September to mid-November, the rain starts falling. Those rainfalls used to be irregular and heavy during the fall. On the contrary, winter is a rather dry, warm and sunny season in southern France. The few rainfalls in February are far less violent than the ones of the fall ; they announce the beginning of an unpredictable spring, a season that can be quite cold because of the wind.
